Ghaghra Science College, located in Ghaghra village, Bagodar taluka, Giridih district, Jharkhand, emphasizes value-driven education, self-discipline, and personal growth. Established on August 9, 1999, by MLA Comrade Mahendra Prasad Singh, the college aims to transition students from literacy to education and competition to collaboration. Initially, the college faced challenges with primitive facilities and limited female enrollment. Notable educationists, including Prof. Ashok Kumar Yadav, the first principal, supported its mission. After Mahendra Prasad Singh's death, his son, Vinod Kumar Singh, continued his legacy. The college, affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, offers undergraduate degrees in 17 subjects across Science, Commerce, and Arts. With over 3,700 students enrolled in recent batches, the college has become a beacon of enlightenment in the region, supported by competent faculty and staff.
The College with its holistic view aims to inculcate among the pioneer stakeholders i.e. the students a sense of human values for enlightenment of their personality so that they become the agents of positive change in the contemporary times and who contribute significantly to the society, state and nation as a whole.
To create a democratic academic atmosphere, through interactive learning experience utilizing best resources for the young and energetic minds and promote value and quality based education for overall development of human resource.

Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar was established in the holy land of Bagodar with a humble vision of imparting education to local youths specially the rural belt of the area. I have a great challenge of taking a budding Institute to new heights. This challenge is compounded further by the vast changes in the external world. Now the Institutions, relations and values are no more certain, fixed and stable. They are uncertain, flux and fluid. Negotiating an ever changing world is a challenge.
Education should enable an individual to stand with the right, positive and justice irrespective of the consequences of such decisions. Hence we need to move further and create leaders, visionaries, social, ethical and cultural entrepreneurs and poets who can actively participate in the formation of new India.
