Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar is located at Ghaghra village of Bagodar taluka in Giridih district of Jharkhand. We believe in value-driven culture that promotes personal growth through education and self-realization. The campus fosters a supportive family environment, encouraging mental and physical well-being. The Institute emphasizes hard work, self-discipline and situational decision-making. Ghaghra Science College prepares students for success without shortcuts, guiding them from literacy to education, from reactive to proactive and from competition to collaboration. The institute cultivates exceptional competence professionally and personally, emphasizing self-discipline over constant supervision.
The College was started way back on 9th August 1999 by then MLA Comrade Mahendra Pratap Singh. Several educationists like Prof. Ashok Kumar Yadav, Pincipal, Jharkhand Commerce College, The peoples of Ghaghra and surroundings donated their land to the Governor with primary motive of educating their children and society as a whole. The College got its affiliation in June 2021. The college which stood up for higher education vying with colleges that were few and far between in those days. The early days of the college were adventuresome with primitive facilities. People of the area were still apprehensive about higher education and only a handful of girl students enrolled while renowned educationists were full of admiration and had a special place for Sri Mahendra Pratap Singh and Sri Ashok Kumar Yadav in their hearts, and they supported him. After sudden demise of Sri. Mahendra Pratap Singh his son Sri Vinod Kumar Singh, current MLA carried out his legacy and dedicated his life for the Institution and society. Sri Ashok Kumar Yadav became the first Principal of the College since its inception. Currently Dr. Subir Kumar Khawas is the Principal-In-Charge of the College.
The College is affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag. College is providing undergraduate degree to 17 different subjects of Science, Commerce and Arts faculties. Several other courses are also streamlined. The College truly became a beacon of enlightenment. Students from every corner of the Bagodar, Sariya, Bishnugarh and Giridih district streamed in, in quest of learning. Currently the College is having more than 3700 students enrolled in three batches- 2021-24, 2022-26 and 2023-27. With competent faculties and dedicated non teaching staff, the college is progressing leaps and bounds.
