About the Department

The Department of Botany at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar was established in 2021 with the objective of imparting quality education in plant sciences under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) as per NEP–2020. The department offers undergraduate teaching with a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure.

Botany, as a life science discipline, enables students to understand plant diversity, structure, function, and their role in sustaining ecosystems and human life. The department aims to develop scientific temper, environmental awareness, and research aptitude among students. Under the guidance of HOD Dr. Subir Kumar Khawas the Department is thriving well and is imparting quality education to the students apart from various other extra curricular activities.

The Botany syllabus is framed by Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag in accordance with UGC guidelines and NEP–2020, covering both classical and modern areas of Botany.
