About the Department

The Department of Anthropology at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar focuses on the scientific study of human beings, their biological characteristics, cultural diversity, social institutions, and evolutionary history. Established in the year 2021 the Department aims to develop an interdisciplinary understanding of humanity by integrating perspectives from social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities.

Affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, the Department offers undergraduate education under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) as prescribed by NEP–2020. The department is especially relevant in a culturally rich and diverse region like Jharkhand, where anthropological knowledge helps students understand tribal societies, social change, and cultural continuity.
