About the Department

The Department of Urdu at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar is committed to the academic study and promotion of Urdu language and literature, one of the richest literary traditions of the Indian subcontinent. The department was established in the year 2021 with the objective of preserving linguistic heritage while equipping students with modern literary and communication skills.

Urdu literature reflects deep human emotions, cultural harmony, social consciousness, and aesthetic beauty. Through systematic teaching and literary engagement, the department seeks to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and linguistic proficiency among learners. Under the experienced hands of Dr. Hasan Parween, H.O.D. the Department is thriving well.

Curriculum Plan

The curriculum is designed and prescribed by Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, and implemented in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP–2020). The programme aims to:

• Provide in-depth knowledge of Urdu language and literary history
• Promote interdisciplinary understanding with history, sociology, and culture
• Develop analytical, interpretative, and expressive abilities
• Balance theoretical knowledge with practical language use

Course Structure

Under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), the department offers:

• Major (Honours) courses in Urdu
• Minor and Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) for non-major students
• Skill enhancement and ability enhancement components
• Semester-wise assessment through internal evaluation and university examinations
