About the Department

The Department of Chemistry at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar was established in 2021 with the objective of providing strong foundational and applied knowledge in chemical sciences. The Department is affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag and offers undergraduate education under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) as per the National Education Policy (NEP–2020).

Chemistry is a central science that connects physics, biology, environmental science, medicine, and industry. The department aims to develop scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and experimental skills among students.

Curriculum Plan

The curriculum is prescribed by Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag and aligned with:

• UGC guidelines
• NEP–2020 objectives
• Outcome-based and multidisciplinary education

It ensures conceptual clarity, skill development, and academic progression.

Course Structure

Under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP):

• Eight semesters from Semester I to Semester VIII
• Major (Honours), Minor, MDC and Skill Enhancement courses
• Laboratory practicals and project-based learning
• Internal assessment and end-semester university examinations

Study Materials & Question Papers

Students are provided with prescribed textbooks and reference books, laboratory manuals, academic notes, and assignments. Previous years’ question papers are also made available to familiarize students with examination patterns and support effective preparation.

On successful completion of the programme, students will be able to:

Student Progress & Results

As the department is relatively new, semester-wise and annual results are updated from 2024 onwards as declared by Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh.

• Introduction of skill-oriented and applied chemistry activities
• Promotion of research aptitude among students
