The Department of Commerce at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar was established in 2021 with the objective of equipping students to face academic, professional, and economic challenges at both national and global levels. Commerce education plays a vital role in nation-building by strengthening trade, industry, entrepreneurship, and financial systems.
The discipline of Commerce is an integrated study of Accounting, Management, Economics, Business Law, Taxation, Statistics, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Systems. The department caters primarily to students from rural and semi-urban backgrounds and follows a co-educational system, with admissions made as per university and government norms. The Department is doing well under young shoulders of Dr. Jitendra Kumar.

Students are encouraged to gain exposure to real-life business practices, industry-oriented learning opportunities, and internship programmes (as available). Furthermore, students are motivated to undertake small research projects, develop paper presentation skills, and engage in academic research under faculty guidance. To strengthen applied knowledge, we have an Accounting Club (focusing on practical accounting techniques) and a Taxation Club (building awareness of taxation systems and compliance).
The curriculum is designed by the parent university and aligned with NEP–2020 guidelines, contemporary academic standards, and interdisciplinary learning. The course spans eight semesters under FYUGP, including Major, Minor, MDC, Skill Enhancement, and Ability Enhancement courses, with internal and external evaluation as per university norms.
