About the Department

The Department of Zoology at Ghaghra Science College, Bagodar was established in 2021 as part of the college’s initiative to strengthen undergraduate education in life sciences. The Department is affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag and offers undergraduate teaching under the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in accordance with NEP–2020.

Zoology, as a core biological science, helps students understand animal life, biodiversity, ecological balance, and biological processes essential for environmental sustainability and human welfare. The Department is thriving well under the guidance of H.O.D. Mrs Shabnam Parveen.

Why Study Zoology?

Zoology deals with the scientific study of animals, from microscopic organisms to complex vertebrates. Studying Zoology enables students to:

The programme follows:

  • Eight semesters from sem 1 to sem VIII under FYUGP
  • Major (Honours), Minor, MDC, Environmental Science and Skill Enhancement courses
  • Laboratory practicals and project-based learning
  • Internal assessment and end-semester university examinations

Past examination papers are made available to help students understand question patterns, prepare effectively for university examinations, and improve academic performance.

Departmental Library Resources & Student Progression

The college library includes Zoology textbooks and reference materials, along with E-resources and INFLIBNET access (as applicable). Student progress is monitored through continuous internal assessment, semester-end examinations, and academic counseling and mentoring. Result data are published from 2024 onwards as per university notifications.
